Guwahati Resident Killed In Road Accident In Patna While Returning From Maha Kumbh

The deceased, identified as Anand Jyoti Mahanta, was traveling with seven others when their vehicle met with an accident in Patna.

PATNA: In a tragic incident, a resident of Garchuk, Guwahati, lost his life in an accident while returning from the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The deceased, identified as Anand Jyoti Mahanta, was traveling with seven others when their vehicle met with an accident in Patna.

While Mahanta died on the spot, the other seven sustained injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital. The group was heading back to Guwahati after taking a holy dip at the Kumbh Mela when the mishap occurred.

In another similar incident, three members of a family returning from Maha Kumbh Mela died in a road accident, while two others sustained serious injuries on NH-19 near Muthani, under the jurisdiction of Mohania police station in Kaimur district, on Tuesday morning.

Police said the accident took place when a three-wheeler, carrying five members of a family, collided with a stationary truck on NH-19. The passengers were returning to Aurangabad after taking a holy dip in Prayagraj.

The deceased were identified as Raj Kumar Singh (40) and Deepak Kumar (22) from Aurangabad, and Anju Singh (55) from Daltonganj in Jharkhand. The seriously injured passengers—Kanjan Devi and her daughter Anjani Kumar—were referred to Varanasi for treatment.
