SRIBHUMI: The Assam Health Department has opened a formal probe into sexual harassment allegations against a female staff member at the Sribhumi Additional CM Office. The investigation, led by Under Secretary Anshulekha Dutta Pathak, was set in motion following a written complaint that escalated serious concerns in the department.
The complaint alleges that Head Assistant Sahabuddin has made improper advances and mentally harassed a female colleague. In reaction to these claims, a six-member committee has been formed to carry out an extensive investigation. Under Secretary Pathak, together with the Additional Deputy Commissioner in charge of the health department in Sribhumi, called for a meeting at the conference hall of the District Commissioner, and it involved the most important officials like the Additional CM, hospital superintendent, and a doctor associated with the case.
During the proceedings, it was disclosed that Sahabuddin had been referred to Guwahati Medical College for questioning. Additional Deputy Commissioner Minerva Arambagh confirmed that the inquiry committee has submitted its findings, although the investigation remains ongoing. She noted that the district administration may consider escalating the matter to a magistrate-level inquiry if further action is warranted.
Sources reveal that Sahabuddin, fearing repercussions, took refuge with Dr. Manjul Haque at the Katigorah Primary Health Center in Cachar district. Dr. Haque Dr. Haque is said to have found him ill and referred him to Guwahati Medical College. However, when approached by the media for a response, Dr. Haque refused to make a statement and hastened away from the scene. The case continues to attract interest as authorities attempt to ensure an impartial and open investigation.
