Assam: Hojai Unnayan Manch celebrates 15th foundation day

Hojai Unnayan Manch, a non-governmental agency, engaged in NABARD for over years, celebrated its 15th foundation day at its office in Hojai Vidyanagar Shimultal.

NAGAON: With a two-day long programme, Hojai Unnayan Manch, a non-governmental agency, engaged in NABARD for over years, celebrated its 15th foundation day at its office in Hojai Vidyanagar Shimultal on March 27 and 28 last here. The celebration was initiated with flag hoisting and a slew of competitions including quiz, debate, and other forms of games and sports among children.

Besides, a discussion session was also organized with the main objective to promote farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, culture, tourism, and exhibition, in which government officials, bankers, and other experts participated. Ramkrishna Ghosh, local Hojai MLA, attended the event as the Chief Guest who appreciated the team of Hojai Unnayan Manch for their tireless efforts for the progress of the society.

Ghosh also assured the non-governmental agency of handing over a plot of land soon for its permanent residential skill training centre, community hall, library, children’s park, and common facility centre at Singaribasti under Hojai Kisam, allotted by the Sub Divisional Land Advisory Committee.

During the event, the local MLA also distributed certificates among some SHG beneficiaries for completion of NABARD-supported LEDP training on pearl culture and agarbatti making. He also visited the exhibition stalls. A souvenir titled ‘Kapili’ was ceremonially released during the event. Sujay Kumar Dutta, Secretary of the non-governmental agency and Chandita Deka, Editor of the souvenir highlighted their journey of the last fourteen years.

The event came to an end with a cultural programme in the evening where several invited artistes performed their songs and music.
