Assam: Indian Air Force corporal kills self at Chabua Air Force base

An Indian Air Force corporal, Rupesh Singh Parmar, shot himself dead with his service weapon at the Chabua Air Force base in Dibrugarh.

DIBRUGARH: An Indian Air Force corporal, Rupesh Singh Parmar, shot himself dead with his service weapon at the Chabua Air Force base in Dibrugarh. Dibrugarh SP Rakesh Reddy confirmed the incident, stating that the incident took place at around 7.30 pm on Wednesday. Parmar was found lying on the ground with his service rifle, an AK-103, close to his body.

The incident took place inside Parmar’s barrack and colleagues who heard the gunshot rushed to the scene, only to find him dead. IAF doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The Chabua police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. The rifle used by Parmar has been sent for forensics examination, while his body was taken for a post-mortem examination.

The news of Parmar’s death has deeply saddened the IAF community at the Chabua Air Force base. The reasons behind Parmar’s extreme step remain unknown, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
