TINSUKIA: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL), Digboi Refinery, in collaboration with the District Health Society, Tinsukia, distributed 240 hearing aids to approximately 150 beneficiaries across Tinsukia district on Wednesday. The distribution was conducted in partnership with the Deen Dayal Foundation, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The initiative aims to address hearing impairment among children and adults, especially those from economically weaker sections including Below Poverty Line (BPL) families, within a 500-km radius of IOCL Digboi.
The programme was ceremonially held at the TDA Cultural Hall in Tinsukia, in the esteemed presence of Rahul Prashant, Executive Director, IOCL AOD Digboi Refinery, Regula Ramanjaneyulu, Chairman, Deen Dayal Foundation, Dr Thota Venkata Sarvarayudu, Former Independent Director, National Fertilizers Ltd., Anand Sharma, State Consultant, RBSK, NHM, State HQ, Assam, Bondit Gogoi, Assistant Commissioner, Tinsukia, and Dr Jayanta Bhattacharjee, Joint Director of Health Services, Tinsukia, along with district and block-level health officials.
Speaking at the event, Dr Thota Venkata Sarvarayudu highlighted the critical need for such initiatives, stating, “These hearing aids are a lifeline for individuals with hearing impairment, particularly young children. The support they receive today will significantly improve their communication skills and overall quality of life.”
