Assam: Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation adopts DHSK College Girls’ hostel

The Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation has adopted and restored the Girls’ Hostel of DHSK College in memory of “Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girls’ Hostel.

DIBRUGARH: The Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation has adopted and restored the Girls’ Hostel of DHSK College in memory of “Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girls’ Hostel.

“This Mother’s Day, we honour the enduring legacy of our beloved Maa, Rukmini Devi Kanoi, whose love and strength inspire us daily. Though 24 years have passed, her spirit remains alive in our hearts. In  her memory, we have  adopted and restored the Girls’ Hostel at DHSK College, now named after her -”Rukmini Devi Kanoi Girls Hostel” a lasting tribute to her legacy,” said Jyoti Prasad Kanoi, trustee of Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation.

He said, “We are proud to have signed an MoU with the college to transform this 57-year-old hostel into a safe, hygienic space for our young women.”

The Girls Hostel was built in 1958 at a cost of Rs 19,5930 with the kind donation from 47 people including Rs 50,000 from Assam governmeng, Rs 50000 from Tea Board, Rs 15101 from Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi (P) Ltd and others.

“Additionally, under the guidance of Nursery Advisor Rachana Tulsyan, we have developed a state-of-the-art Green Vertical Garden, promoting eco-friendly practices and natural beauty which was inaugurated by State cabinet minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan,” Kanoi said.

He said, “Together, we celebrate motherhood and the power of giving back—building a greener, brighter future for all.”

The Jyoti Lalita Kanoi Foundation has donated many projects in Dibrugarh and the foundation has been dedicatedly working for the infrastructure and overall development of colleges and schools in Dibrugarh.
