DONGKAMUKAM: Kopili River is rising steadily due to incessant rain for the past few days here in West Karbi Anglong district. Therefore the authority has issued a red alert for West Karbi Anglong as well the middle Assam districts, particularly Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, etc.
Meanwhile, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Hamren WKA in their official group also nodded releasing of Khandong Dam Kopili Hydro Power Station Dima Hasao (Assam) spilling or gate opening of 7 gates. They informed that the release was necessitated due to heavy downpour in the Dima Hasao district and neighbouring state Meghalaya. The citizens were advised to move to the safer places along with their belongings.
Here in West Karbi Anglong district, the relief camp site inspection officers made a whirlwind visit to the major flood affected areas under Dongkamukam Revenue Circle on Wednesday afternoon.
