Assam: Major Drug Bust In Cachar, Heroin And Yaba Tablets Worth Rs. 14 Crore Seized, One Arrested

Assam police arrested a suspect and seized drugs worth Rs. 14 crores, including 40,000 Yaba tablets and 260 grams of heroin in Cachar district, highlighting efforts to combat drug trafficking.

SILCHAR: In a major crackdown, police authorities in Assam's Cachar district arrested one person and recovered a substantial amount of illicit drugs like heroin and Yaba tablets worth around Rs. 14 crore.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday revealed about this major drug bust, outlining the successful action by the Cachar Police within the ambit of Dholai Police Station.

The raid took place in Ramprasadpur when police stopped a car in the course of a routine check. A thorough inspection of the vehicle led to the confiscation of 40,000 Yaba tablets and 260 grams of heroin. Notably, the Yaba tablets, a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, are known for being addictive.

The suspected drug dealer was also caught in the crackdown, and the authorities are investigating the broader racket of drug smuggling. CM Sarma congratulated the Assam Police on their hard work to solve the issue of drug trafficking in the state.

In a separate incident, a team from Panbazar PS, Guwahati raided a hideout near 4 No Rail Gate and apprehended Nijam Ali (18) of Nagaon. Police seized 9 vials of heroin weighing 16.54 grams and Rs 230 in cash. Legal action has been initiated against the accused.

In another operation, a team from Fancy Bazar OP of Panbazar PS raided 4 No. Railway Gate of Fancy Bazar. Police seized 11.89 grams heroin, 35 empty plastic vials, and Rs 740 in cash. Police arrested Arihant Ali in connection with the case.
