Assam: Man Kidnapped While Visiting Guwahati For IPL Match; Rescued From Meghalaya

The police have arrested all five accused individuals involved in the kidnapping, marking a significant breakthrough.

GUWAHATI: In a shocking kidnapping case, a man identified as Fakhruddin Bhuyan was abducted while coming to watch an IPL match in Guwahati. A group of five youths from Bhagadattapur forcefully took Fakhruddin, a resident of Barpeta, when he had travelled to Guwahati for the game, as per reports.

Following an intensive investigation, Fakhruddin was rescued from Umiam in Meghalaya after Dispur police successfully traced Fakhruddin's whereabouts. The police have arrested all five accused individuals involved in the kidnapping, marking a significant breakthrough.

The apprehended persons, hailing from Nagaon, have been identified as Abul Hussain, Abul Nazar, Sahir Ahmed, Abu Kashem and Abdul Hanan.

Further legal proceedings are underway as the authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the kidnapping. The incident has sparked concerns over safety in the city, especially during high-profile events like IPL matches.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old girl was safely rescued by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) and Sonapur Police Station after being abducted on her way back from Dimoria College. The abduction took place soon after she had finished her higher secondary exam.

The young girl showed great courage as she was able to call her elder sister when she was subjected to the ordeal. This key communication triggered a series of actions that resulted in her immediate rescue.
