KOKRAJHAR: A district-level consultation meeting on the implementation of schemes related to women was held on Saturday at the DC conference hall, Kokrajhar.
Presiding over the meeting, DC Masanda Pertin, shed light on the shifting dynamics of gender-based violence, which now has extended to subtle forms such as cyberbullying, photo morphing, and social media harassment of women. She stressed the critical need to identify and address these micro-aggressions proactively. Furthermore, DC Pertin highlighted the importance of robust legal safeguards, government initiatives, and economic and educational support systems to empower women and help them overcome adversities.
Key discussions during the meeting included sessions on the Domestic Violence Act, PoSH Act, She-Box Portal, ICC, and legal provisions under BNS, BNSS, and BSA, all aimed at enhancing women’s welfare. Additionally, initiatives under National Gender Campaign 3.0, the Gender Resource Center, and Mission Shakti Schemes were deliberated upon. The meeting concluded with a pledge by all participants to work collectively towards eradicating gender-based violence. The programme was organized by SANKALP: Hub for Empowerment of Women, Kokrajhar, as part of the ongoing 16 days of activism to end gender-based violence, observed from November 25 to 10 December 10.
Prominent attendees included ADC Kabita Deka, officials from the Home Department, SSA, NHM, PNRD, ASRLM, CDPOs, representatives from Shakti Sadan, and members of various Civil Society Organizations.
