TEZPUR: Health and Family Welfare Minister and Dhekiajuli MLA Ashok Singhal today formally inaugurated a Dialysis Centre at the Dhekiajuli Community Health Centre (CHC) under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) in Sonitpur District.

Speaking at the event, Minister Singhal stated that this dialysis centre is yet another example of the government’s unwavering commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the people of Dhekiajuli and the state. He emphasized that the state government is ensuring that no citizen is deprived of lifesaving medical treatment due to financial constraints or lack of facilities. The launch of this dialysis centre marks a significant step toward bridging the healthcare gap in the region.

Minister Singhal highlighted that Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an increasing public health challenge and that dialysis is a critical treatment for patients suffering from kidney failure. He said that recognizing this urgent need, the Government of Assam, under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, is expanding dialysis services across the state. This new facility, he added, will provide free dialysis services to numerous economically disadvantaged patients, bringing hope and relief to many families.

Notably, the Dhekiajuli Dialysis Centre has been established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model in collaboration with Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited. The centre is equipped with three dialysis beds and can treat nine patients per day across three shifts. This initiative will address the rising demand for dialysis services in Sonitpur District and further strengthen Assam’s expanding dialysis care network.

Earlier in the day, Minister Singhal also participated in another event at Trimurti Bhawan in Dhekiajuli, where he distributed the first instalment of financial grants under the ‘Asom Darshan Scheme’ to 123 religious institutions in the Dhekiajuli Constituency. Under this scheme, each institution is set to receive Rs 3 lakh, with the first instalment disbursed today.

The event was attended by Co-District Commissioner Dyotiva Borah, along with senior administration officials, dignitaries, and local residents.
