Assam: Miscreants attack MP Rakibul Hussain at Rupahihat

In a shocking incident, Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain was attacked by miscreants at New Bazar in Rupahihat on Thursday here.

NAGAON: In a shocking incident, Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain was attacked by miscreants at New Bazar in Rupahihat on Thursday here.  The incident occurred when Hussain and his son Tanzil Hossain were on their way to attend a party meeting at Puthikhaiti areas.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of unidentified miscreants, with their faces covered, attacked Hussain, his son Tanzil Hussain and his security personnel. The miscreants used cricket bats and sticks to attack the MP and his team. Hussain’s vehicle was also damaged in the sudden attack.  The security personnel accompanying Hussain fired in the air to disperse the attackers. However, the miscreants managed to snatch the keys of the vehicle, leaving Hussain and his team stranded. The gang of miscreants was so ferocious that it even leaped on the security guards and they were too beaten up by the gang.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with various organizations and individuals expressing outrage. The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU) have strongly condemned the attack.

The MP has alleged that the attack was pre-planned and that he had informed the district administration and the police about the possibility of an attack. Hussain has demanded immediate action against the perpetrators and has called for the resignation of the Home Minister.

The incident has raised concerns about the law and order situation in the state, particularly in the run-up to the upcoming panchayat elections. Local residents have expressed apprehension about the possibility of further violence in the area.
