BONGAIGAON: In a commendable initiative, Garubhasha police under Sidli police station in Chirang district rescued a 55-year-old woman who had been missing for nearly 13 months and reunited her with her family.
The woman, identified as Pakhoni Devi from Sitardih district of Jharkhand, was rescued from a roadside area at Garubhasha on August 14 by a police team led by Garubhasha police officer Sunil Sarkar. Following the rescue, the police arranged shelter for her at Kripalaya Ashram. During questioning, the police learned that she was from Jharkhand and subsequently contacted her family over the phone.
After receiving the information, her family members arrived at New Bongaigaon and took her into their custody from Kripalaya Ashram. They later travelled with her by train from New Bongaigaon railway station to their native place.
The family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Government and Assam police for their efforts in rescuing Pakhoni Devi and helping reunite her with her family.
