Assam: MLA Lawrence Islary Distributes Relief Cheques to Beneficiaries in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR: The ceremonial distribution of financial benefits under various welfare schemes took place on Sunday at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, Kokrajhar, as part of the “12 Days of Development” initiative launched by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

MLA Lawrence Islary, gracing the occasion as Chief Guest, distributed cheques under the Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme to 331 beneficiaries, offering seed capital to bolster their entrepreneurial endeavours. In addition, ‘No dues certificates’ were distributed under the Assam Microfinance Incentive and Relief Scheme to 119 Category-III Phase-II borrowers from Kokrajhar district. Financial assistance was also extended to 4,586 individuals affected by various disasters, categorized into agriculture, house damage, clothing and utensil damage, etc., during the programme.

Addressing the gathering, MLA Islary lauded the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, stating that these initiatives signify a robust step towards fostering development and providing timely support to the underprivileged. He said such initiatives stood as a testament to the Assam Government’s resolve to promote inclusive development and create sustainable opportunities for all and expressed hope that this will empower individuals and families, paving the way for economic stability and growth in Kokrajhar.

The event witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including ADC Kabita Deka, Nitya Binod Warie, senior officials of the District Administration, and other key stakeholders.
