BOKAKHAT: A group of women protested in front of the Golaghat West Development Block Office, alleging that their names had been removed from the Orunodoi scheme despite being eligible. Among them were elderly women who claimed to have been deprived of various other government benefits too. The women also alleged that many financially well-off and ineligible women have been receiving benefits under the Orunodoi scheme, while deserving women have been left out.
The women, residents of Sipahi Gaon under Mohmaiki Gaon Panchayat, expressed their deep resentment and frustration before the media over being deprived despite eligibility.
