NAGAON: The triennial conference of the Nagaon District Mahila Samiti was held at its Amulapatty-based office here on Saturday.
The conference began with the hoisting of the flag by the working president of the organization Bibha Phukan. The conference was attended by prominent women from the district, including Mansi Dutta, president of the Tezpur District Mahila Samiti, who delivered a speech on “The Responsibilities and Duties of Mahila Samitis.” Dutta emphasized the crucial role that Mahila Samitis play in empowering women and promoting their welfare.
Deepa Saikia, a noted advocate from Nagaon, also addressed the conference, speaking on the topic “Laws related to Women and Child Protection.” Saikia highlighted the importance of awareness about laws related to women and child protection and emphasized the need for Mahila Samitis to work towards creating awareness about these laws. The conference also saw the felicitation of five prominent women who have been associated with the Nagaon District Mahila Samiti in various capacities. They are Apara Phukan, Ratnamala Saikia, Indu Bora, Lakshimi Bora, and Anu Bora Hazarika.
The conference concluded with the formation of a new executive committee for the Nagaon District Mahila Samiti for next term. Indu Bora was elected as the president, Bibha Phukan as the working president, while Pranati Sarma and Shanya Devi as secretaries.
