Assam: Nagaon Medical College and Hospital organizes Seminar on Cancer

NAGAON: The Department of Community Medicine in collaboration with Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Nagaon Medical College Hospital (NMCH), hosted CME on 'transforming cancer care: advances in early detection, prevention and management of oral cancer and cervical cancer' at the medical college premises today here. The event brought together esteemed experts from various medical fields to discuss the challenges and strategies, associated risk factors, early detection, prevention and management of oral and cervical cancer.

The conference commenced with a succinct inauguration ceremony by Prof Dr Mousumi Krishnatreya, Head of the Department, Community Medicine, and the Organizing Chairperson, who extended a warm welcome to attendees, setting a collaborative tone for the day. This was followed by an inspiring inaugural speech by Prof Dr Mihir Kumar Goswami, Principal-cum-Chief Superintendent, NMCH, Nagaon.

The esteemed speakers at the CME included Dr Nayanjeet Chaudhury, MD, MPH, Director of the Amrita Patel Centre for Public Health, Bhaikaka University, Gujarat, Dr Ashok Das, Prof & HOD, Department of Head and Neck Surgery, Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute, Guwahati, Dr Gunjan Nath, NCD Consultant, WHO India (Assam), Dr Indrani Roy, Senior Consultant & HOD, Department of O&G, Nazareth Hospital, Shillong, Dr Dipjyoti Das, Group Head of Medical Operations & Planning, Assam Cancer Care Foundation, Dr Deepika Bumb, Senior Research Fellow, Ramaiah International Centre for Public Health Innovations, Bengaluru, Dr Rahul Sarma, State Programme Manager, NCD, NHM Assam, and Dr Arun Deka, HOD, Pain & Palliative Medicine, State Cancer Institute, Guwahati.

A panel discussion on the 'Role of Al in Diagnosis and Management of Oral & Cervical Cancer,' was moderated by Dr Sashindra Kumar Das, Associate Prof Department of Obs & Gynae, and Dr Hiyeswar Borah, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine NMCH, Nagaon.

Lastly, Dr Shaheen Rahman, Associate Professor of Department of Community Medicine, Nagaon Medical College, took the stage to deliver a heartfelt vote of thanks.
