HAFLONG: The contractual employees of NEEPCO, Umrangso, staged a sit-in demonstration at the NEEPCO campus today.  The protest was against the alleged non-implementation of agreements signed in 2002 and 2024. The key demands of the protesters included immediate implementation of the Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) signed and upgradation of worker categories.

The protesting workers claimed they have been deprived of their rights since 2002, despite the agreements. They urged NEEPCO Ltd. to address their grievances and ensure a fair resolution. Talking to the media, the deprived contractual workers of NEEPCO said that the NEEPCO authority failed to implement the clauses of MoS signed earlier even after several approaches. They said that they are now bound to go for an indefinite strike and will also not allow the officials to enter the office and worksite. Several attempts were made to contact the NEEPCO officials on this but were in vain.
