Assam: One sentenced to 13 years of rigorous imprisonment in Kamrup District

Sadek Ali of Tulsibari village, Kamrup, was sentenced to 13 years rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹5,000 by the Rangia special court, with an additional month of simple imprisonment for non-payment.

Rangia: On Tuesday, Sadek Ali of Tulsibari village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Rangia Police Station in Kamrup District, was sentenced by the special court of Rangia Additional District and Session Judge Mukul Chetia to 13 years of rigorous jail and a fine of Rs 5,000, with the possibility of one month of simple imprisonment if he does not comply. He also sentenced his son and daughter Shafiqul Ali and Shahrbanu Begum to three months’ simple imprisonment. According to Additional prosecutor  Debojit Saikia, the accused Sadek Ali raped his daughter-in-law in his own house wo years ago in 2022. The court also sentenced Shafiqul Ali and Shahrbanu Begum, the son and daughter of the accused Sadek Ali  to three months simple imprisonment for physically assaulting the victim. The court also ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay a financial assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the victim.
