Assam Panchayats Secure National Recognition with Prestigious Awards

Two gram panchayats of Assam have achieved a noteworthy feat by being chosen for the esteemed National Panchayat Awards 2024, which honour their exceptional contributions to rural development.

Guwahati: Two gram panchayats of Assam have achieved a noteworthy feat by being chosen for the esteemed National Panchayat Awards 2024, which honour their exceptional contributions to rural development. In recognition of their efforts to become a child-friendly panchayat, the Jengrai gram panchayat from Majuli district will receive a grant of Rs 1 crore and the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar.

For its outstanding efforts to boost the rural economy, the Bebejia Demow Bangthai gram panchayat from Nagaon district will receive the Nanaji Deshmukh Sarvottam Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar along with a prize of Rs 1.25 crore.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is hosting the National Panchayat Awards Conferment Ceremony 2024 tomorrow at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. In order to honour their outstanding contributions to inclusive and sustainable development, President Droupadi Murmu of India will present the National Panchayat Awards to 45 recipients in a variety of categories during the occasion.

According to a release, State Election Commissioner Alok Kumar recently reviewed the first preparation for the State's upcoming panchayat elections at the district commissioner's office here.

The preliminary planning for the panchayat elections in the four districts of Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, and Charaideo was the topic of the conference. Presentations on the initial planning for the panchayat elections in each district were given by the district commissioners of the four districts.
