GUWAHATI: Assam Police apprehended four individuals who were attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh border illegally In a recent operation. The arrested suspects—Rumana Shaikh, Md Badshah Shaikh, Reksona Khatun, and Musama Aisha Khatun—were detained near the border and subsequently deported back to Bangladesh.

This arrest underscores the ongoing vigilance of Assam’s border security forces in their commitment to preventing illegal immigration and protecting the region’s borders.

Meanwhile, earlier last month, Assam Police arrested at least eight Bangladeshi infiltrators who attempted to cross over to India through the Indo-Bangla international border under the cover of darkness.

According to information shared on social media by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, they were subsequently forced to return to their country.

In three different updates published on social media over the last three days, Chief Minister Sarma claimed that the Bangladeshi nationals were detained and then forced back, thwarting their attempts to illegally enter Assam.

Similarly, in Manipur, 29 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested in the Mayang Imphal area of Imphal West district for entering the state without valid documents. A revenue department official was also arrested for allegedly issuing fake Inner Line Permits (ILPs) and other counterfeit documents to help these foreign nationals enter the state.

The arrests were made after a tip-off regarding suspected foreign nationals in the area. The official, reportedly the mastermind, provided forged documents to facilitate their illegal entry.
