GUWAHATI: Assam Police hosted the first-ever East Zone All India Police Pilot T20 Cricket Tournament Matches with effect from February 4 to 7 in the ACA Stadium Barsapara, Guwahati. West Bengal, Odisha, Manipur, Meghalaya, SSB and Assam were the six teams that participated in the T20 East Zone Cricket matches.
After some high-voltage matches between all the teams, West Bengal Police and Assam Police emerged as the two qualifying teams from the East Zone of the AIP Pilot T20 Cricket Tournament. The two qualifying teams will proceed to the quarterfinals to be hosted by 36 Battalion BSF with effect from 18th to 21st February.
Patron and DGP Assam Harmeet Singh, IPS, along with several senior officers of Assam Police, interacted with the players and team officials of the participating teams at ACA Stadium Barsapara and wished all the teams well on February 3.
Meanwhile, the Assam girls’ team clinched the title in the 3rd East Zone National Mini Roll Ball Championship that concluded in Kolkata last year in November. The boys’ team bagged silver.
The final match in the girls’ section was held between Assam and Odisha. Assam dominated the game and registered an easy 7-1 victory. Earlier in the league stage, Assam won against Odisha (3-1), Bihar (7-2), and West Bengal (7-0).
