Assam Police Seize Heroin, Arrest Two in Anti-Narcotics Operations

Assam Police seized heroin and arrested two individuals in separate anti-narcotics operations in Nagaon and Guwahati under the War on Drugs initiative.

NAGAON: In a continued effort to combat drug trafficking, Assam Police conducted two successful anti-narcotics operations, leading to the seizure of heroin and the arrest of two individuals.

In the first operation, a team from Nagaon Police, under Jajori Police Station, recovered seven plastic containers containing 1.92 grams of suspected heroin. The accused has been taken into custody, and further legal proceedings are underway.

Meanwhile, based on a tip-off, Panbazar Police Station under the Central Guwahati Police District (CGPD) conducted a search at 2 No. Railway Gate. During the operation, the police caught 21-year-old Puja Deka for allegedly selling heroin. They seized 16 vials of heroin weighing 21.89 grams and a Samsung mobile phone from her.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to intensifying the crackdown on illegal drug activities under the ongoing War On Drugs initiative. Further investigations are in progress.

Similarly, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma commended the Assam Police for their ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug trafficking, following a substantial drug bust valued at Rs. 1.5 crore in two separate operations conducted by Cachar Police on March 2.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), CM Sarma highlighted the police's swift actions, stating, “In two separate operations, drugs worth Rs 1.50 crore were recovered by @cacharpolice. In a source-based operation, two vehicles were intercepted, leading to the recovery of 310 grams of heroin. Excellent work, @assampolice.”
