DOOMDOOMA: Doomdooma Press Club (DPC) organized a programme on intimate discourse with senior citizens of Doomdooma at Doomdooma Natya Mandir (DNM) on Sunday. In the beginning, a one-minute silence was observed in memory of those killed by the terrorists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir recently.
It was followed by a lecture by Dr Pranab Jyoti Deka, a reputed Gynaecologist of the town, on health-care to be taken by the senior citizens. A question-answer session was next where Dr Deka answered various questions on health-related problems of senior citizens.
The meeting was anchored by President, DPC Manoj Dutta, and was attended and addressed by Gobinda Phookan, Lalit Gogoi, and Prakash Narayan Patowari, President, Vice-President, and General Secretary respectively of Senior Citizens Association (SCA), Doomdooma.
Bina Devi Bordoloi, former vice-principal, Doomdooma College, beautifully rendered two songs in the meeting while poet Golok Deka recited a self-composed poem.
The meeting was also addressed by Dibyalata Deka, President, Doomdooma Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samiti, Shima Chaudhury, former principal, Hoonlal HS School, Nirola Chaudhury, former headmistress, Jawahar Hindi High School, Bina Gogoi, former headmistress, Doomdooma Girls’ High (now Higher Secondary) School, Shraban Dhekial Phukan, immediate past president, Barhapjan Sakha Xahitya Xabha, and others.
At the end, Manoj Dutta, Presided DPC, presented letters of appreciation to the members of SCA, Doomdooma, present in the meeting through President Gobinda Phookan and offered the vote of thanks.
