Assam: Programme on natural farming gets underway in Biswanath district

A three-day long training programme on natural farming commenced on Wednesday at Bhimajuli in the Biswanath district.

BISWANATH CHARIALI: A three-day long training programme on natural farming commenced on Wednesday at Bhimajuli in the Biswanath district. The programme has been organized by CADAT, a local NGO with the support of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Padma Shri Dr Subhash Palekar, the pioneer of natural farming, was present as the chief trainer in the programme.

The training was inaugurated by Biswanath District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngatey. District Agriculture Officer Baneswar Bey, Associate Dean of Biswanath College of Agriculture Dr Khanindra Nath Barman, NABARD District Development Manager Suman Chatterjee, Lead District Manager Sandeep Debnath, Professor of Biswanath College of Agriculture Dr HC Bayon, Associate Professor T Nandi, and an enterprising farmer from Pavoi region Punya Prasad Khaund, along with officials from CADAT, the organizing institution, were present on the occasion.

 Nearly 350 farmers from Bhimajuli, Koilajuli, and Gohpur areas participated in the training. All the dignitaries present expressed their strong support for the importance of natural farming and assured continued cooperation and assistance in the days to come.
