GAURISAGAR: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) and Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) on Tuesday staged a strong protest in front of Amguri Revenue Circle Office in Sivasagar district alleging that National Brick Quarries is illegally manufacturing bricks in the Amguri Revenue Circle area.
The protesters chanted slogans demanding that the illegal brick quarries must be stopped, government officials who issued licenses using fake stain numbers must be arrested, and the owners of National Brick Quarries who are evading taxes while manufacturing bricks must be arrested.
Ritumoni Hazarika, Central Chief Organizing Secretary of KMSS, claimed that the licence of the National Brick Querries has not been renewed yet and it has been registered using fake stain numbers. Hazarika also alleged that although the company is located at Jalukgaon under Amguri Revenue Circle vide Dag No. 419 & 420 and Patta No. 114 & 208 but surprisingly the owner of the quarries have registered it vide Dag No. 260, 416 & Patta No. 316.
The protesters demanded the closure of the National Brick Quarries for being issued licenses using fake Dag & Patta numbers and destroying agricultural land without renewal. It may be noted that in this regard, KMSS had submitted a memorandum to the Circle Officer of Amguri Revenue Circle on February 4 but the authority did not take any action against National Brick Quarries.
KMSS also demanded the arrest of the owner of the Quarries and that the government officials and employees of the concerned departments be investigated and action taken against them. KMSS revealed that it will shortly file a FIR against the corrupt owners soon.
The protest programme was attended by Robin Hazarika, Vice-President of CMSS, Karuna Saikia, Durlav Dihingia, Joint Secretaries of KMSS, Sivasagar District Committee, Arindom Gogoi, President, KMSS, Jorhat District Committee, Pallav Saikia and Bhaskar Boiragi, President and Secretary respectively ,CMSS, Sivasagar District Committee.
