TINSUKIA: Dileep Kumar Kalita, a renowned educationist, science motivator and social worker, breathed his last in a private nursing home in Tinsukia on Thursday evening due to a prolonged illness. A resident of Bordoloi Nagar Tinsukia, he was 76.
Born at Sivasagar, Kalita taught at the Department of Chemistry, Tinsukia College, from where he superannuated in 2009. He was actively associated with various science-based organizations, particularly Assam Science Society, National Children Science Congress (NCSC), etc. Late Kalita was the president of Tinsukia College GB and GB member of Doomdooma College. After retirement, he joined as principal of a junior college, Inventure Academy, where he served with utmost dedication till recently.
Various social organizations deeply mourned his death. He leaves behind his wife, a former school teacher, a son and a daughter besides many friends and relatives.
