Monju Dutta, Daughter of Freedom Fighter Robi Ram Dutta, Passes Away in Guwahati

GAURISAGAR: Monju (Soonmai) Dutta, daughter of noted freedom fighter late Robi Ram Dutta and a resident of Jhanji Gorakush village in Sivasagar district passed away at her brother Bhaben Dutta’s residence in Chandmari, Guwahati on Thursday. She was 70 . She started her career as a teacher and joined in Morabazar Muktab LP school. Later in 2004 she was transferred to 80 No Jhanji Jamuguri Najir Pukhuri LP school where she took her superannuation in April 30, 2015.

She was a very kind, hospitable, caring teacher and social worker who had been suffering from neurological diseases for a long time. During her service period she had donated a kidney to her brother Bhaben Dutt and given him a new life. For her contribution and recognition to the society  Jhanji Anchalik Mahila Samaj and Jhanji Sakha Lekhika Santha felicitated her in 2022 in a function of International Women’s Day.

For her amicable behaviour she was loved by all. The death of the teacher and social worker has left a deep shadow of mourning in the entire Jhanji area. Various organizations like Jhanji  Garakush Gaon Namghar Samaj, 80 No. Nazir Pukhuri Primary School, Morabazar Muktab Primary School, Sankardev Krishi Kendra, Phulpanichiga, Jhanji Press Club, Phulpanichiga Ancha Rassutsav and Barnamghar Kala Krishi Kendra, Jhanji Anchalik Alankrita Mahila Samaj, Jhanji Sakha Lekhika Santha, Jhanji Natya Samaj Kala Bhawan among various organizations, individuals have expressed their condolences.She is survived by one brother, four sisters and a host of relatives.
