BOKAKHAT: Dr Gayatri Bora Kakoti, a writer and Associate Professor in the English department of Kamargaon College, on Thursday presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to meritorious students who recently excelled in the undergraduate examinations.
Among the beneficiaries, Nikita Jaychowal, a brilliant but financially disadvantaged student, received a cheque of Rs 50,000 through the college Principal, Dr Gautam Kumar Saikia, to help her pursue postgraduate studies.
Additionally, five students from the English department who secured ‘A’ grades in the recently-declared final undergraduate examination results of Dibrugarh University were each awarded a cheque of Rs 10,000, also handed over through the Principal.
Dr Kakoti further announced that, as per her earlier commitment, she will provide the second instalment of Rs 50,000 to Nikita Jaychowal in the coming academic session to support her postgraduate education.
Apart from Nikita, the other students who secured ‘A’ grades were Jilmil Rodali, Ujjal Dutta, Lekharani Hatibarua, Palki Saikia, and Aicheng Morang.
