Assam: Sadou Asom Sattra Mahasabha Organises Important Meeting

JAMUGURIHAT: The Sonitpur unit of the Sadou Asom Sattra Mahasabha organised an important meeting of the organisation in Jamugurihat. This event was attended by several dignitaries as well as over 500 people from different walks of life.

The famous Naamghar in the Patalorchuk village was the venue of an important meeting of the Sadaou Asom Sattra Mahasabha where the dignitaries discussed a range of topics related to Srimanta Sankardev. President of the organisation, Haridev Goswami co-ordinated this sober discussion.

Mrinalini Devi, former vice president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha and chief advisor of the Aai Kanakalata Mahila Tirtha attended the event as the keynote speaker on the discussion about Srimanta Sankardev. She is also the mother of the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Meanwhile, the elected Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Sootea Constituency, Padma Hazarika attended the event as the chief guest. In his speech, Padma Hazarika applauded the efforts of the organisation towards ensuring that the teachings of the great saint reach the masses. He also thanks the Satradhikars of various Sattras who had attended the event, along with the large number of people who were part of the same.

Previously, the Asom Satra Mahasabha (ASM) had taken up the venture of a documentary film on Mahapurush Srimanta Sarkardev in four different languages. Speaking to The Sentinel, ASM secretary general Kusum Kumar Mahanta said, "The Mahasabha has taken this decision at its recent executive meeting held at Sri Sri Madhupur Xatra at Cooch Behar. We intend to spread the life and teachings of the Mahapurush through this documentary in four different languages: Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, and English. Our (ASM's) Koklata branch secretary, Sujit Chakravarty, who is a noted film director, will direct the documentary film. Our target is to hold the mohurat of the documentary on September 30, 2023, at Batadrava Than. The tentative schedule of release of the documentary is December this year."
