GAURISAGAR: "People can be proud of their rich culture. Just as Greek poet Homer's Iliad and Odyssey still guide European nations in the 21st century, our epics Ramayana and Mahabharata can guide our children. No child can move forward in his or her field without knowing about Ramayana and Mahabharata," stated Dr Archana Devi, Associate Professor, Sivasagar University, while speaking as an appointed speaker in the seminar held on the topic 'The role of parents in the holistic development of students' at the Silver Jubilee celebration of Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Boliaghat on the outskirts of Gaurisagar in Sivasagar district on Saturday.
Addressing the parents and students, Dr Devi said that there must be respect and mutual understanding among every member of a household and that doing the little things for your children and lovingly pointing out their mistakes will help in the development of the child's personality. She also stated that the civilization which we are standing in today is a civilization created by European civilization and culture. "From morning till evening, we have to follow that civilization's culture. We must know that there is no civilization in the world that has not been enlightened, practiced, influenced by European culture. But in the meantime, we have to inspire our children from an early age to learn about our own heritage, civilization, and culture," added Dr Devi.
