Assam Science Society’s Dhakuakhana conference concludes

The three-day long 55th biennial conference of Assam Science Society (ASS), held at Homen Borgohain kshetra, Dhakuakhana, that began on April 4 came to an end on April 6.

DHAKUAKHANA: The three-day long 55th biennial conference of Assam Science Society (ASS), held at Homen Borgohain kshetra, Dhakuakhana, that began on April 4 came to an end on April 6.

The programme got underway on April 4 with the hoisting of ASS flag by President Dr Dhireswar Kalita, Dhakuakhana Branch’s flag by President, ASS, Dhakuakhana Branch Digendra Nath Hazarika, and reception committee’s flag by its Working President Debajit Phukan. Secretary, ASS Mrinal Hazarika initiated the Smriti Tarpan. The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr Manoj Patowari, Secretary, Bharat Jana Vigyan Yatra.  The inaugural session of all the three days’ events was inaugurated by Dr Abani Kumar Bhagawati, former president, ASS and former professor of Geography, Gauhati University, in presence of President Dhireswar Kalita and Dr Paramananda Mahanta, former president, ASS. Dr Bhagawati, in his speech, explained how population density had its impact on the land and environment of Brahmaputra Valley. He significantly said that in subjects like Geography, Geology, Anthropology, Sociology, etc. there lay some local aspects which need to be studied.
