DIBRUGARH: Under the WASH Project of the Socio Educational Welfare Association (SEWA), handwashing taps were distributed to school children at Margherita Tea Estate, Tinsukia, on Sunday.

These taps serve as water dispensers and effectively address gaps in hand-washing facilities. Each tap operates using waste plastic water bottles, making it a practical and environmentally friendly solution.

In celebration of the organization’s Silver Jubilee, SEWA plans to distribute 9000 such taps to tea garden children across Assam. This significant initiative aims to instill good hygiene practices among young students, ensuring they have access to adequate hand-washing facilities.

Supported by LIXIL’s SATO, this social initiative not only promotes proper hand-washing practices among children and adults in Assam’s tea estates but also helps in reducing water wastage. By creating an easy and enjoyable hand-washing experience, the project aims to foster long-term health benefits and environmental consciousness among the community.
