MANGALDAI: Assam is set to witness a paradigm shift in vocational education with the establishment of the Assam Skill University at Joy Nagar, Mangaldoi. Minister of Power and Skill Development Prasanta Phukan made the announcement on Friday, sharing updates from the construction site, marking a significant step towards transforming skill development in the region.
The Assam Skill University, slated to be operational by July 2025, promises to be a state-of-the-art hub for hands-on training and education. The ambitious project will offer cutting-edge facilities, including modern classrooms, advanced laboratories, and dedicated spaces for practical workshops.
With more than 100 fields of expertise, the university aims to equip students with the skills needed to thrive in emerging industries like IT, healthcare, renewable energy, and advanced manufacturing.
Minister Phukan highlighted the university's focus on industry-aligned training, ensuring that graduates are job-ready with practical expertise.
"The Assam Skill University is being built with a focus on state-of-the-art facilities and will be operational by July 2025. Our goal is to provide skill training in 100+ fields, ensuring students are equipped with the expertise they need through quality workshops,” the Minister stated on X.
Strategically located in Mangaldoi, the university is set to become an important centre for students across the Northeast, driving both economic and social growth in the region.
This initiative marks a significant leap towards shaping a future where vocational education plays a key role in the development of skilled professionals ready to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market.
