JAMUGURIHAT: Pinki Mudoi, a resident of Pithaguri Dol, Karchantala under Jamuguri Police Station of Sonitpur District, has attracted attention as she sets an example of self-reliance. A widow, Pinki had lost her husband four years ago. After the death of her husband, the actual life struggle of Pinki began. She didn’t knock the door of her neighbours and near and dear ones for alms and assistance. Rather she chose the life of self-reliance. To look after her only child and for livelihood, she dared to take a loan from one of her SHGs (Self Help Group) and brought an E-rickshaw in instalments. Since then, she rides the e-rickshaw during the day hours and sells chicken in the evening. She brings chicken (broiler) from a nearby wholesaler and sells it in the evening after dressing it. Courageous Pinki has almost paid the EMIs of her e-rickshaw from her earnings. Only two or three more instalments are to be paid, Pinki added.

Now Pinki has become a center of attraction for all. Whereas, most of the youths exhaust hours after hours watching reels and social media posts, Pinki has chosen the path of hard work. She maintains a friendly relation with her customers. Many times, customers wait for Pinki’s e-rickshaw (Tom-Tom) for a ride. Now, she has become self-reliant and can run her family with ease. Talking to this correspondent, Pinki said that instead of running after the illusion of colourful life on social media, people should engage in productive work. She also added that instead of going abroad in search of work, youths can create job opportunities by themselves here in their native place.
