Assam: Sootea Police arrests man for fraud

Acting on a tip off, a team of Sootea Police, arrested a man accused for fraud from Amoni, Chamuguri, Nagaon today and seized a sum of rupees seven thousand from his possession.

JAMUGURIHAT: Acting on a tip off, a team of Sootea Police, in association with the Cyber cell/PTL, arrested a man accused for fraud from Amoni, Chamuguri, Nagaon today and seized a sum of rupees seven thousand from his possession. The accused has been identified as Suren Robi Das who originally hails from Kumolia.

According to information, an FIR was lodged at Sootea PS under Case No. 16/2025 U/S 318(2)/316(2) of BNS, 2023 which stated that Das sold a OPPOOF25 Pro 5G android mobile phone to one Tapan Biswas, a resident of No. 2 Adabheti under Sootea PS for Rs 16,000 at his salon located at the Karayani Centre in the southern part of Sootea. But the phone turned out to be a demo mobile phone. The victim tried to trace the accused in vain and later lodged an FIR at Sootea Police Station on Sunday.

On the basis of the FIR, the police team tried to locate the whereabouts of Suren Robi Das and finally arrested him from Amoni today. Further investigation is on, informed Trilochan Das, Officer In-charge of Sootea PS. The people praised the timely action taken by Sootea Police in the case.
