MANKACHAR: The South Salmara Police carried out a major operation against drug trafficking and seized heroin worth Rs. 2 crore after receiving reliable information. The operation, which focused on a house in South Salmara Mankachar, led to the recovery of 252 grams of heroin that was reportedly being smuggled from a nearby state.
Acting on the information, a coordinated search operation was carried out by the South Salmara Police Team who successfully discovered drugs hidden in the premises. The heroin is believed to be part of a larger drug network operating in the area. Authorities suspect the heroin was supposed to be sold on local and interstate markets.
One person has been arrested in connection with the drug seizure, and the police are following up on other leads to find more people involved in the trafficking. The authorities have started a thorough investigation to dismantle the drug network and stop the illegal drug trade in the area.
The seizure is part of the Assam Police's ongoing efforts to address the growing issue of drug trafficking and its impact on local communities.
Meanwhile, earlier this week, in a significant operation, Laharighat Police Station (PS) conducted a raid in Amaraguri, leading to the recovery of 11.26 grams of suspected heroin. The arrested individuals were identified as Mustafa Ahmed, Mirajul Ali, and Jushnara Begum. Legal proceedings were underway against the accused.
