TINSUKIA: The town of Tinsukia in Assam witnessed a vibrant display of young sporting talent as SpearCorps successfully hosted the inaugural edition of the Rupai Badminton Tournament. The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from 201 young shuttlers competing in the under-13 and under-17 categories.
The event provided a much-needed platform for budding athletes to display their skills and competitive spirit. In addition to promoting sportsmanship, the tournament also aimed to nurture the next generation of badminton players in the region.
Organized with the vision of encouraging youth participation in sports, the initiative by SpearCorps is considered a step towards nation-building through grassroots sports development. The tournament also highlighted Tinsukia’s growing presence as a hub for youth sports in Assam.
The success of this inaugural edition has laid a strong foundation for future tournaments, inspiring young athletes to pursue excellence in the field of sports.
Meanwhile, Nowgong Girls’ College hosted the fifth edition of its flagship program “Ei Mahor Athiti” (Guest of the Month) earlier in February. The guest for the occasion was noted environmental scientist Dulal Chandra Goswami.
The program began with a warm welcome to Goswami by the college’s principal, Kulen Chandra Das. The principal explained the purpose of the program and welcomed the guests and other dignitaries.
