Assam: STF Assam Conducts Successful Raid in Ganeshguri, Apprehends Two for Counterfeiting

STF Assam raided Ganeshguri on January 13, 2025, apprehending two suspects and seizing ₹11.31 lakh in fake currency, mobile phones, and cash during the operation.

GUWAHATI: Based on an input, on January 13, 2025, a significant raid by the Assam Special Task Force was executed at Ganeshguri falling under the purview of the Dispur Police Station. As a result of the raid, two individuals have been apprehended on suspicion of doing counterfeiting activities.

During the raid, STF recovered a huge amount of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth ₹11,31,500, out of which 2,263 notes were of ₹500 denomination. Besides the FICN, three mobile phones and ₹400 in cash were also recovered from the suspects.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Ruful Amin, aged 22, son of Tafiruddin, from Islampur village in Lakhimpur district, and Jakir Hussain, aged 30, son of Md. Jamshed Ali, from Saru-Dampur village in Kamrup district. Both suspects are currently residing at the address of Mr. Bhuban Bhuyan, H/No. 18, Mathura Nagar, Axomi Path, in Dispur, Kamrup (M).

Law enforcement officials are finishing the formalities after the raid. Investigations are being conducted to determine the complete extent of the counterfeiting operation and possible connections with more extensive criminal organizations. This operation has successfully underscored the determination of law enforcement agencies in Assam to eradicate counterfeit currency and associated criminal activity in the region, ensuring that the financial system remains intact.
