SIVASAGAR: Argha Goswami, the newly elected president of the Rhode Island University’s Senate in the United States, was publicly honoured in her hometown of Sivasagar on Wednesday. A resident of Shantipar village in Sivasagar, Argha is the granddaughter of the late Xatradhikar Sivachandra Goswami of Sri Sri Ratanpur Xatra and the daughter of Dr. Jayanta Kumar Goswami and Dr. Gayatri Goswami.
In recognition of her election and her exceptional leadership qualities, the Shantipar Namghar’s Bhada Mah Jora Naam Kirtan and Srimad Bhagavat Paath Celebration Committee organized a public felicitation ceremony on Wednesday. The event saw an outpouring of congratulations and praise from residents of Hatighuli and various organizations for Argha’s academic and leadership achievements, marking her as an exemplary figure for the student community of Assam.
Social activist Biswajit Gogoi hosted the event, where former student leader and organizer of the Naam Kirtan and Srimad Bhagavat Paath Celebration Committee Gobin Phukon commended Argha’s accomplishments as an ideal and inspirational figure for Assamese students.
Several dignitaries attended the ceremony, including Bakul Bora and Anil Bora from the Shantipar Namghar Management Committee; Padmakanta Nath, President of Sri Sri Sankardev Kala Krishti; and various prominent figures from literary, cultural, and social organizations in the region.
Argha was felicitated with a traditional Assamese gamosa, commemorative mementos, and a congratulatory letter by the event organizers.
Her father, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Goswami, a senior official in the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, and her mother, Dr. Gayatri Goswami, a professor at Sibsagar University, were also present at the ceremony, which was graced by notable community members and other dignitaries.
