The complaint was filed by Tai Ahom Yuba Parishad, Asom Margherita sub divisional committee which was led by Durga Konwar, Vice-President of TAYPA central executive committee alleging that members of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha allegedly insulted the Tai Ahom community and disrespected Tai Ahom traditional festival Me-Dam-Me-Phi.

Few days ago, Chandra Baruah a Tai Ahom community person, resident of Gohpur and a member of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, attended a Tai Ahom traditional festival Me-Dam-Me-Phi after which the Sangha took disciplinary action against him and imposed a fine of Rs 500.

“Some top leaders of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha, such as Chief Padhadhikar Bhabendranath Deka, Chief Secretary Kushal Thakuria, Chief of Seva Vahini Sanjib Borah, and many followers have deliberately commented against Me-Dam-Me-Phi and the Tai Ahom community on social media platforms.
