NAZIRA: The scenario of the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly election is heating up in Nazira, with both ruling and opposition parties vying for votes. The constituency has a total of 1,82,196 voters, including 88,645 men, 93,549 women, and 2 third-gender voters. Key candidates include BJP's Mayur Borgohain, Congress leader Debabrata Saikia, CPI's Kanak Gogoi, and others.

The tea tribe community, which has increased significantly due to delimitation, is expected to play a crucial role in determining the outcome. Historically, minority voters had played a decisive role in Congress victories, but changes in electoral dynamics pose new challenges. Women voters are also expected to be a deciding factor, with many expressing support for both Saikia and Borgohain based on their personalities. The election outcome remains uncertain, with the main contest expected to be between Saikia and Borgohain. The CPI's Kanak Gogoi has added an element of intrigue, while AGP leader Pankaj Mahanta's Independent candidacy could impact the ruling party's chances.
