BOKAKHAT: A temporary worker was seriously injured on Wednesday morning after coming in contact with a live 11 kV electric wire near the Upper Assam Electricity Sub-Division office in Komargaon under the Bokakhat subdivision.

The incident occurred around 10 AM when the worker, identified as Papu Bhumij, was working on an electric pole in front of the Komargaon Electricity Sub-Division office. Without disconnecting the power supply, he came in contact with the 11 kV line and fell from a height of about 15 feet, creating a scene of chaos.

Local electricity department personnel immediately rushed him to the Vivekananda Hospital in Numaligarh. However, due to the severity of his injuries, particularly to his arms and legs, doctors referred him to Jorhat for advanced treatment. It is worth noting that the injured worker was engaged in electrical work without obtaining prior permission or using any safety gear from the Komargaon Electricity Sub-Division office.
