NAZIRA: Internationally acclaimed WWE champion and Indian professional wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, popularly known as ‘The Great Khali,’ has reached out to flood-affected people in Assam during his two-day visit to Sivasagar district.
After participating in a relief-material distribution programme at Dorika Kaibarta village in Sivasagar on Thursday, Khali visited Chumani village in Nazira on Friday. The programme was organised by True Hope Foundation, Ayan and Deeplina Deka Foundation, which distributed essential items including beds, mattresses, fans, and water filters among flood-affected families.
Khali subsequently visited Tengahola at Bamun Pukhuri, where he participated in an ongoing house-construction initiative undertaken by the three organisations for flood victims. He inaugurated one newly constructed house at the site.
He also laid the foundation stone for a proposed Hanuman temple to be constructed in the same area under the initiative of True Hope Foundation, Ayan and Deeplina Deka Foundation.
Appreciating the organisations and volunteers involved in rebuilding homes for flood-affected families, Khali said, “Best wishes for this initiative to construct more than 100 houses for flood victims. May God give greater strength to all the volunteers and organisers so that they can continue serving many more people in society.”
Khali’s visit and participation in the relief and rehabilitation initiatives brought encouragement to the flood-affected families and volunteers engaged in the ongoing reconstruction efforts.
