KOKRAJHAR: After the statewide sit-in of ABSU demanding solution of Bodo medium educational problems on January 8, the United Bodo People’s Organization (UBPO), one of the stake holders of BTR accord and an influential Bodo Organization of outside BTC has also cautioned that they were not happy with delaying of implementation of all clauses of BTR accord but will go for democratic agitation very soon if the government fails to take necessary steps to implement the clauses properly and in time bound manner.
Talking to media persons in the sideline of the 11th annual conference of the UBPO held at Mainao Fwthar, Jajikhona in Rangia on Wednesday, the president of the organization Manuranjan Basumatary said the signing of BTR accord was going to complete five years on January 27 but most of the clauses of the accord are yet to be implemented while Boro Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council (BKWAC) formed at the spirit of BTR accord is hanged in balance. He said the government assured the extension of Eastern boundaries of BTC to Sonitpur district within six months but neither extension of boundaries nor delimitation of constituencies and notification of villages of BKWAC have been implemented. He also said due to delaying of delimitation of constituencies and holding of Council election, the BKWAC is being run with negligible fund of Rs. 13 crore annually which is not at all possible to carry out developmental activities for over 10 lakh Bodo people outside BTC.
