DIBRUGARH: Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal laid the foundation stone for a 37-bedded multi-storied patient care cabin facility at Assam Medical College & Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh today.
The fully-furnished facility, at a budgeted cost of Rs 8.89 crore under Oil India Limited’s (OIL) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, will comprise four floors with 37 well-equipped rooms to provide advanced medical care to patients.
This significant initiative aims to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in Assam by enhancing patient care services and addressing the growing medical needs of the region. The ceremony was attended by Rituparna Baruah, Chairman, Tourism Development Corporation, GoA and Akhim Hazarika, Chairman, District Development Authority, along with senior officials from OIL and AMCH.
Earlier, OIL had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with AMCH on August 20, 2024, to undertake this initiative.
AMCH Dibrugarh, the first medical college in Northeast India, plays a crucial role in providing healthcare services across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and other neighbouring states. With an increasing demand for subsidized treatment and improved infrastructure, this new facility, located in the heart of OIL’s operational area in Upper Assam, is set to significantly strengthen the region’s healthcare delivery system by offering need-based infrastructure for specialized and quality treatment.
This landmark project reaffirms OIL’s steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of life in its operational areas and beyond, in alignment with its vision of creating sustainable value for society.
