BOKAKHAT: A tense situation arose on Saturday night at Khatiyakhuli under Bokakhat police station when a vehicle loaded with stolen cattle was intercepted. The villagers of Khatiyakhuli stopped the cattle-laden vehicle, which was coming from the outskirts of Bokakhat towards Rajabari. Notably, the region has long been plagued by the terror of cattle thieves. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS03CC5329, was illegally transporting 10 cows without any valid documents. The incident sparked tension during the night.

As the situation grew intense, Bokakhat police arrived at the scene. However, when the police tried to rescue the driver, who had been detained and beaten by the villagers, clashes nearly broke out between the agitated locals and the police. Eventually, the police managed to take custody of the driver and the vehicle, and initiated appropriate legal procedures.

Meanwhile, the driver’s statement that an illegal Saturday cattle market was operating in Nikarighat under Bokakhat police station limits added a significant dimension to the issue.
