TAMULPUR: The Assam government has swiftly responded to a viral video that allegedly shows students cheating during the ongoing Higher Secondary (HS) and High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) exams at Tamulpur H.S. School in Assam's Baksa district.
The video, which surfaced on social media, appears to show students using mobile phones inside the examination hall, raising concerns about exam integrity.
In response, the Inspector of Schools in Tamulpur has been instructed to provide a detailed report on the incident. The Centre In-Charge, Principal Bibhuti Deka, has been replaced with Circle Officer-cum-Executive Magistrate Elima Kandulna by the government to oversee the smooth and fair conduct of the exams.
Although the authenticity of the video has not been confirmed, the government’s swift action underscores its commitment to ensuring transparency and fairness in Assam’s board examinations. Authorities are expected to take further steps based on the official report from the Inspector of Schools.
Meanwhile, the High School Leaving Certificate Examination 2025 began across Assam on Saturday, with 429,448 candidates registered. However, chaos unfolded at Gasbari High School in Kamrup district due to a 28-minute delay in distributing English question papers.
The delay occurred after the headmaster, Ashok Choudhary, arrived late at 9:28 am, causing confusion among students. In response, the Director of Secondary Education, Mamata Hojai, suspended Choudhary for negligence following an inquiry by the Inspector of Schools. The exam is being conducted across 944 centres with 190,653 male and 238,795 female students.
