A CORRESPONDENT
DOOMDOOMA: Pushpalata Khaund (91 years), a weaver, skilled in herbal medicine and devotional songs, passed away at her residence at Rupaisiding on January 10 due to old age.
She was born in Kalugaon in Sivasagar district and married to Bholanath Khaund (now deceased) of Janji-Jamuguri. She came to Rupai 45 years ago after spending most of her time in a tea garden along with her husband and became assimilated with its society.
She was a master at making colourful carpets and helped many patients to heal with herbs. She is survived by a son, two daughter-in-laws, three son-in-laws, and grandchildren. She was a member of the Vishnu Nagar Namghar, Rupai Satodal Sakha Xahitya Xabha, Doomdooma Asamiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Samiti.
