Assam: Woman Killed, Another Injured in NH 17 Collision Involving Overspeeding Bus in Boko

At Agchiya village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Boko Police Station, a major traffic collision on NH 17 on Monday resulted in the immediate death of one woman and the injury of another.

Boko: At Agchiya village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Boko Police Station, a major traffic collision on NH 17 on Monday resulted in the immediate death of one woman and the injury of another. According to the locals, a passenger bus ‘Nagraj’ (AS 18C 9913) coming from Guwahati towards Goalpara collided with a scooty (AS 25M 7594). Due to the collision, one woman Krishna Rabha (pillion) died on the spot and Krishna Rabha (rider) was critically injured. Locals informed Boko Police and Police recovered the deceased woman and sent the injured woman to Boko Primary Hospital. Krishna Rabha was referred to GMCH due to the severe injuries. According to the police, both women are from Khatolpara village under Boko Police Station. Police also seized the bus and brought it to the Boko Police Station. According to the locals, the bus came over speeding and hit the scooty which was waiting on the right side. Disgruntled residents questioned the administration, the transportation department, and the police, claiming that government agencies never regulate passenger buses, dumpers, and other large vehicles rather than fining people for small infractions like failing to wear a helmet.
